Sheriff's Office Seizes Over 220 Packets Of Suspected Fentanyl Heroin In Norwich

NORWICH – Two individuals are facing felony drug charges after police found more than 220 packets of heroin possibly mixed with fentanyl and over $1,900 cash following a traffic stop in the Town of Norwich.

According to the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine. An animal tranquilizer, it is mixed in with heroin to increase its effect. It greatly increases the chances of an overdose and users are often unaware of it being added in.

According to Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting Jr., on Tuesday a Pennsylvania man and a Town of Norwich woman were arrested by investigators for drug possession following a traffic stop in the Town of Norwich.

Uysef H. Guzman, 26, of Pennsylvania and Heather A. Prince, 34, of Norwich were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Cutting said at approximately 4 a.m., on June 4, in the Town of Norwich, sheriff’s deputies performed a traffic stop on a pickup truck traveling north bound on State Highway 12 in the Town of Norwich for vehicle and traffic law violations.
