NORWICH – Thanks to a coalition of local organizations, the Department of Defense will be back to do another “Greater Chenango Cares” Innovative Readiness Training event this year; providing free services such as dental, medical, and vision work.

The event will be held this summer at the Norwich High School/Middle School complex from July 11 to July 20, 2019.

Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) is a Department of Defense military training opportunity, exclusive to the United States and its territories, that delivers joint training opportunities to increase deployment readiness. Simultaneously, IRT provides key services including health care, construction, transportation, and cybersecurity with lasting benefits for American communities.

“Greater Chenango Cares is a very exciting mission for us,” said Captain Jennifer Fagan, Operations Officer for the Innovative Readiness Training program. “It is an opportunity where members of the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Army, Navy Reserve and Navy can train together in a real world setting while at the same time helping the local communities. The training we receive will help to prepare us for future deployments.”
