LITTLE FALLS – Trailing 5-0 after five innings of play, Sherburne-Earlville needed a big rally to comeback in their season opener Wednesday afternoon. With four runs in the sixth and another three in the top of the seventh, the Marauders were able to take a 7-5 lead in their last trip to the plate.

In the bottom of the seventh, Little Falls tried to create late drama but were only able to come away with one run, giving S-E the one run win.

Starting off the rally in the top of the sixth, Savannah Niles drew a walk. She scored later in the inning along with teammates Alex Kolber, McKenzie Holmes and Dalaney Parker.

The seventh inning saw nearly the same batters head to the plate for the Marauders as Jesse Buruato scored after reaching the basepaths on a fielder’s choice.

The Mounties’ Kylie Miles, who had already knocked a home run in the early innings of the contest, scored the lone run in the seventh for the home team.

Brooke Hailston was on the mound for S-E through out the entire game. She recorded two strikeouts and gave up just one earned run.
