Fatnango Fat Bike Extravaganza gets green light from council

NORWICH – The first Fatnango Fat Bike Extravaganza is officially set to take place in Norwich on Saturday, February 16 after city council members unanimously supported it at the December 18 meeting.

The winter biking event was created by cycling aficionado and Norwich resident Jason Miller, along with Rob Baker of the Galena Growlers Mountain Bike team, Dan Sepello and Sara Behrmann of Action Cyclery LLC, and Kevin Cruz of the Greenway Trails committee.

The hope, Miller said, is to highlight the city's trails and promote outdoor activities through a community supported, family-friendly event that could eventually become tradition in Norwich.

The Fatnango Fat Bike Extravaganza races will feature a number of classes including beginner, intermediate, and advanced, with each race starting and finishing in Norwich's Weiler Park, and taking place across a two and a half mile track on the Greenway Trails.
