Norwich City Court Judge primary election comes down to absentee ballots

(L-R) Michael J. Genute, Steven G. Natoli

NORWICH – The unofficial Chenango County primary election results are in, and as it stands, the Norwich City Court Judge Republican race is too close to call just yet.

Michael J. Genute received 281 votes to Steven G. Natoli's 264, but the Chenango County Board of Elections has indicated that the number of absentee ballots remaining to be counted is more than the difference of votes between the two candidates.

The official results will be announced in a week's time when all the absentee ballots postmarked up to September 12 can be counted.

Genute unofficially won the majority of votes in both election districts of the city. The results of Wards 1, 2, 3 were: Genute 181, Natoli 166. The results for Wards 4, 5, 6 were: Genute 100, Natoli 98.

“We are pleased with the unofficial results and thank everyone that went out and voted and supported our campaign,” said Genute.
