Home opener loss for the Tornado

NORWICH – The squelching heat of the NHS turf field took its toll early and often on both the NHS varsity girls soccer squad as well as the visiting Chenango Valley Warriors.

“In general play was very hot and players struggled,” said Norwich head coach Matt Wilson.

The first 30 minutes of the game would see CV jump to a commanding lead at 3-0 over Norwich off of two goals from CV's Sara Marinaro and an additional strike from Alexis Phillips.

“Second half pulled it together and held them,” added coach Wilson. “They (CV) played well and we look forward to a rematch.”
