‘No knock’ warrant yields misdemeanor charges and appearance tickets

NORWICH – An investigation into the sale of marijuana concluded Thursday afternoon with the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the City of Norwich.

The Norwich Police Department, along with the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, executed the search warrant at approximately 1:57 p.m., at an apartment located at 30 Mitchell St.

The execution of the search warrant culminated in two arrests:

• Daniel C. Stiles, 60, of Norwich, was charged with one count of criminal possession of marijuana in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.

• Rebecca A. Wallen, 34, of Norwich, was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Authorities from the NPD allege that Stiles knowingly and unlawfully possessed one or more preparations, compounds, mixtures or substances containing marijuana and the preparations, compounds, mixtures or substances were of an aggregate weight of more than two ounces.
