NEW BERLIN – The Greene Trojan’s defense was resolute once again last Friday night, as they limited the Unadilla Valley offense to just 22 points in a 36-22 victory.

On a night where UV honored five Seniors, the Greene Trojans stole the show and were in complete control of the game from start to finish. They opened up the game with a 12 point first quarter, while their stout defense held the Storm to just five points. Greene’s McKenna Sergi hit six of her game-high 12 points in the quarter.

The Storm fought back in the second quarter, but still struggled offensively, netting just eight points. They went into the break down by six.

Things didn’t get any better for UV. They scored just nine points in the entire second half and succumbed to the 14-point loss.

Best in the loss for the Storm was Shelby Meade, who had seven points, while Julia Oglesby added six points and 13 rebounds.

“We just didn't have the offense to compete with Greene tonight,” said UV head coach Brandi Whitbeck. “Their defense was awesome and we couldn't throw it in the ocean. We shot 14 percent from the field for the game. You’re not going to win any games like that.”

Although they performed poorly offensively, Whitbeck took some positives from the loss, “Defensively I thought we played well, even though we were very outsized. We hung with them for three quarters but didn't have enough fire power to close it out.”
