SMYRNA - Yogurt giant Chobani is lending a helping hand to the Norwich Family YMCA’s Camp Thompson, or the Y Camp. A recent donation from Chobani will go toward improvements that will be made at the camp.

“We’re very excited and very thankful,” said YMCA Assistant Director and Y Camp Director Christiana Gomez Frye, adding that the gift is going toward a great cause.

The YMCA plans to use Chobani’s contribution to make a sand beach on the shore of the ten acre lake at Camp Thompson, and building a brand new slide on the playground.

“The slide is going to be really cool,” said Gomez Frye. “It’s going to follow the natural slope of the land and run all the way down the hill.”

One of the engineers at Chobani is planning to donate their time to help build the slide into the land.
