NORWICH – It took one full day to seat the jury for the trial of the people versus David T. Spencer, a man who has opted to take his felony driving while intoxicated charge to trial.

Spencer was indicted by a grand jury and then was arraigned in Chenango County Court on July 1, 2013 for the class E felony of driving while intoxicated.

First Assistant District Attorney Stephen M. Dunshee is representing the people and Spencer has retained attorney Thomas Jackson Jr. as his defense counsel.

Jury selection began at 9:30 a.m. on Monday and was completed by 4 p.m.

It is predicted the trial proceedings will last two days. Opening statements began this morning and the trial will continue throughout the day. Proceedings are open to the public.
