NORWICH – Diane DiStefano, Democratic and Working Families Party candidate for Chenango County Judge, announced the endorsement of Ithaca Mayor and Earlville native Svante Myrick.

“It is my pleasure to endorse Diane DiStefano for Chenango County Judge,” said the Ithaca Mayor. “Diane is an extremely well qualified candidate. Her tenure as Guilford Town Justice and Assistant Public Defender are just the beginning of her many qualifications. Having spent many years in the Chenango County area I can say she is a breath of fresh air for the county.”

Myrick was elected Mayor of Ithaca in 2011 at just 24 years old, one of the youngest elected mayors in United States history. He was raised in Earlville, New York and graduated from Sherburne-Earlville High School in 2005. Mayor Myrick went on to attend Cornell University and became a City Councilman in 2008. Since becoming Mayor, he has appeared on NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams, Ora TV with Larry King, Kiplinger Magazine, and other prestigious media.

“Mayor Myrick is an inspiration to all and his support is welcomed with open arms,” said DiStefano. “My message has been about moving Chenango County in the right direction, and I feel Mayor Myrick can serve as an example of that direction. It is so gratifying to see Chenango County produce such an inspirational story and accomplished individual.”
