Letter To The Editor: Don’t Let Process Devolve Into A Popularity Contest
Published: August 13th, 2012

Editor,

I was pleased to see the recent editorial with regard to the trials and overall issues relating to Peter Wlasiuk which have embraced Chenango County for some 10 years.

Editorial leadership is a key role and responsibility of the press and I would like to encourage The Evening Sun to take a proactive role with the determination of the Chenango County Court Judge position.

Through your balanced, unbiased reporting and editorial leadership, The Evening Sun is in a strong position to inform and educate the community as to the importance of this position and why it is critical for the long term, (10 years), that decisions are made on the position, the key requirements of the role and those of a successful candidate, rather than to see the electoral process develop into a popularity contest marked by the number of banners, posters and the like that are being spread across the county suggesting that ‘posters vote’ or deliver legitimacy!
