Chenango Valley 5, Norwich 3

FENTON – Chenango Valley capitalized on Norwich’s mistakes, and despite the Tornado’s 10-3 advantage in hits, came away with the STAC league victory.

Nick McCullough had two hits and two RBI for Norwich. Mackay Hotaling went 3-for-4 with a run, and Ben Barnes added a 2-for-4 day. McCullough scored in the seventh on Colby Griffin’s single making it a two-run game.

“We hit the ball well, we just hurt ourselves in the field,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “We made too many mistakes tonight to beat a team like Chenango Valley.”

Otselic Valley 18, George Junior Republic 0

SOUTH OTSELIC – Dylan Comfort tossed five strong innings for Otselic Valley Monday afternoon striking out 10 and walking just two as the Vikings blanked George Junior Republic.

Doug Day and Trevor Marston drove in three runs apiece for the Vikes, who scored 11 runs in their opening at-bat. Marston and Travis Sheldon finished with 3-for-4 days at the plate. “That was Dylan’s best outing of the season, and everything starts with pitching,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “When you get a well-pitched game, everything else seems to fall into place.”

OV hosts Cincinnatus today.
