EDITOR’S NOTE: The Bricks & Mortar Report provides updates on major construction projects in Chenango County.

Chenango County Fire Department Tower Project:

• The emergency communication tower project for Chenango County is in the end stages as officials await the delivery of equipment.

• The microwave technology has already been fully installed on all of the new towers and signed off on, said county Emergency Management Director Matt Beckwith. Additional equipment is expected to arrive within the next week or two for installing base radio and other equipment on the newly-erected towers in Otselic and Coventry.

• The T1 line connecting the old jail to the new Public Safety Facility will be removed at that time.

• A list is being compiled of the UHF frequency radios needed for fire and county highway department and VHF receivers for EMS and law enforcement.

Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich:

• Management last week unveiled the completion of phase two renovations on the hospital’s third floor. The phase included a second nurses’ station, physician dictation area, nutrition center, and staff room.
