Karyn M. McElroy


Karyn M. McElroy, 73, of Norwich, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. She was born on September 27, 1948 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Fred E. and Ruth (Monser) Rivenburg.
Karyn was a loving woman who was liked by everyone who met her. She was the true matriarch of the family and could always be counted on to keep track of every important date or event involving any of them. Karyn always worked factory jobs and she was fortunate enough to retire and enjoy her remaining years with Terry. They owned and enjoyed their boat for 12 years and they have had and enjoyed their motorcycles for over 40 years. Karyn will be greatly missed and always loved and remembered.
Surviving are her husband and lifelong best friend of 45 years, Terry McElroy; 2 children, Theresa Vanloan and David and wife Rhonda Vanloan; 4 grandchildren: Brandie, Bryan, Trevor, and Bailey; several great grandchildren; stepmother, Nina Rivenburg; 15 siblings; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her 2 fur kids, Noah and Suzy. Karyn was predeceased by her parents; brother, Jamie Zurenda; niece, Shannon Dix; nephews, Buddy and James Sullivan and Jake Brownsell; sister in law, Linda McElroy; and son in law, Rich Lee.
There will be one hour for visitation on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 10 -11 AM with a memorial service following at 11 AM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
