NORWICH — The Rising Stars Women’s Pickleball Tournament was a wonderful success, bringing together 16 enthusiastic women for a day filled with competition, camaraderie, and great sportsmanship at Weiler Park in Norwich.

The weather could not have been better, providing the perfect setting for a fun and exciting day of pickleball. Players traveled from Cooperstown, Edmeston, Oneonta, Norwich, and Hartwick to participate, showing just how much the sport of pickleball continues to bring people and communities together throughout the area.

The tournament ended with an exciting final game featuring Bernadette Evans and Nancy Hendrickson against Alyssa Perillo and Alice Corona. The match was a real nail-biter, with both teams battling hard and keeping everyone watching until the very end. After a close and exciting contest, Bernadette Evans and Nancy Hendrickson came away with the win, putting the perfect finishing touch on a fantastic day of pickleball.

Following the success of the Rising Stars Tournament, organizers are excited to announce another pickleball tournament at Weiler Park on Saturday, September 19, 2026 beginning at 9:00 a.m. This time, the event will feature separate tournaments for men and women and will also serve as a benefit for the ASPCA.

Players and spectators are encouraged to bring pet supply donations to help fill a large donation box and support animals in need. It is a great opportunity for the pickleball community to come together not only for some friendly competition, but also for a wonderful cause.

The entry fee is $20 per player, payable at the event. Anyone interested in participating should register through the PlayTime Scheduler app under the Binghamton section.
