OXFORD — There’s a reason the Oxford Farmers’ Market’s long-running motto is “fresh from your neighbors.” That’s because every item—vegetable and flower, package of meat, baked good and prepared food, handmade bowl or apron or basket or skein of yarn—is grown, raised or produced by the hands of those vending or, in a few cases, vended on behalf of a very local producer. This means that everything on offer is fresh and in season and unique.
Shoppers this Saturday will find over 30 vendors offering all kinds of beautiful plants, vegetable starts; seasonal vegetables and mushrooms; eggs, dairy products and regional cheeses; locally raised and processed beef, lamb, pork and chicken; local hard ciders, maple syrup and honey; coffee and tea; hand-made soaps, lotions and balms; and exquisitely hand-crafted pottery, jewelry sewn items, and willow basketry.
Vendors are now also offering wonderful hot and cold prepared foods that can be eaten right there on the Park at the community table or around the fountain, or taken home, as well as helpful services like knife sharpening. And an art table for children is also available on a weekly basis.
Folk Fiddler John Potocnik and pianist Kathy Shimberg, market-goer favorites, will be performing in the Bandstand,
The Market is held on Lafayette Park from 9:00 a.m. to noon, with music starting at 10:00 a.m.
