NORWICH — Join the fun and adventures at the Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport on Airport Day, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 13, located at 6390 State Highway 12, North of Norwich.
This year is sure to please the crowds as the Warbird Thunder Airshows and Spirit of Flight airshows take to the skies.
The National Warplane Museum will return with WWII airplane "Whiskey 7," which was the lead C47 in the second wave on D-Day.
In addition to Whiskey 7 paid rides there also will be EAA Young Eagle Flights, and more.
“Airport Day provides an opportunity for many to come out and see the airport, take a ride in a plane, and experience the different ways aviation benefits our county through various careers and experiences," said Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport Administrator Shane Butler.
According to the Warbird Thunder Airshows website, the Warbird Thunder Airshows provides a twelve-minute airshow performance and features the North American SNJ Texan, a former WWII Navy Advanced Training Aircraft.
Butler said they are hoping to also have Spirit of Flight Airshow back this year with his 1/5th Scale RC F-16C in Thunderbird colors or the 1/7 scaleF-18 SuperHornet, pending weather, safety, and mechanical issues with the aircrafts.
He noted two SNJ's will perform tandem aerobatics and offer an awesome spectator experience due to their large physical size, engine sound, fast paced loops and rolls, and smoke presentation.
