AFTON— The Greene Trojans and Afton Crimson Knights girls’ basketball teams faced off in a MAC league battle on Friday night in Afton. Greene came away with a solid 51-38 victory.
Mia Yahner led the Trojans with 19 points, going off with most of her points in the second half. She fired away nine points in the third quarter and made both free-throw attempts in the second quarter.
Hailey Butler followed with 12 points, all in the first quarter.
Kaitlyn Youngs and Mya Leggett-Carlin both add seven points as Deirdre Colgan finished with six points in the win.
Appalonia Bushaw led the Crimson Knights with 14 points throughout the second, third, and fourth quarters.
Misty Bushaw added seven points as Rylee Rupakus had five points in the first half.
Megan Racine, Ariana Florance, and McKenna Ross both finished with four points.
Racine also had six rebounds as Abbey Paoletti finished with six steals in the loss.
Greene (6-11) hosts Oneonta on Thursday at 6 p.m. while Afton (6-10) heads to Walton/Downsville on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
