PHOENIX— The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves wrestling team traveled to Phoenix High School on Saturday, where they competed at the Section III, Class tournament. S-E came in second, behind a tough Marcellus team, with 194 points. 11 out of 12 S-E wrestlers placed, including Drew Telesky and Andrew LaFrance becoming Class champions.

Freddy Smith and teammate Drew Telesky duked it out in the 103 pound weight class finals, where Telesky won in a 6-2 decision, becoming a class champion. Smith finished second with an overall record of 2-1 with two quick :34 and :37 second pins.

Drew Telesky went 3-0 to win the 103 pound weight class with the decision against Smith, a :59 pin, and a 19-4 win by tech fall.

Andrew LaFrance won the 118 pound weight class with a 4-0 record. He had two wins by pin and won by a 13-5 major decision and by a 7-0 decision.

Trenton Anderson came in second at 150 pounds, going 2-1 on the day. He won by a 17-2 tech fall and pinned General Brown’s Carsyn Ferard in 3:28.

Andrew Menard also finished second, going 2-1 at 285 pounds. He won by a 18-2 tech fall and in a 8-1 decision.

Jonathan Conklin took third at 144 pounds, where he went 3-1. All three wins were pins, including a 2:27 pin against Holland Patent’s Dylan Bailey. He defeated Cazenovia’s Nathan Chapman twice by pins.

Alex Campbell finished fourth in the 215 pound weight class with a 1-2 record, where he pinned Holland Patent’s Ricky Jones in :37 seconds.

Richie Fuller also came in fourth place, where he went 2-2 at 190 pounds. He won in a 20-4 tech fall and pinned Marcellus’ Kingston Walzer in 3:41.

Noah Ackermann took fifth in the 138 pound weight class with a record of 2-2 with a win by 6-3 decision and a win by a 10-5 decision.

Justin Race also came in fifth place, where he went 3-2 at 157 pounds, including a quick :18 second pin against Phoenix’s Simon Dupper.

Aiden Shreve took fifth at 126 pounds with a 3-2 record as well. He won in a 2:02 pin, a 12-3 major decision, and by forfeit.

Manny Hollins finished sixth at 132 pounds, despite going 0-3 on the day as teammate Josh Evans went 0-2 at 126 pounds.
