NORWICH — The Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ basketball team hosted the Windsor Black Knights for senior night on Friday. Congratulations to senior cheerleader Melanie Morales, basketball seniors Emma Urgo, Alivia Burrell, Emma Baker, and Marina Arraez (foreign exchange student from Spain).
Norwich honored its seniors with a 65-31 win.
Norwich pushed out 23 points to take a 35-12 lead at halftime. Norwich went on a big run after Windsor made it a two-point game to start the second quarter. Emma Urgo led efforts in the second quarter, where she scored on four consecutive offensive drives for Norwich.
The Purple Tornado had increased its lead to 30 points in the third quarter.
Emma Urgo led Norwich with 19 points, playing consistently throughout the contest, where she had seven points in the second quarter.
Josey Ryan added 15 points as Brynley Ryan went four-for-four at the free-throw line and added two three’s to finish with 12 points.
Brooklyn Burke finished with 11 points off the bench as Alivia Burrell and Arabella Dwyer both had four points in the win.
Norwich improves to 12-2 on the season and heads to Oneonta on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
