NORWICH - The 2026 Chenango County School Boards Association Legislative Breakfast was held Saturday at the DCMO BOCES Alan D. Pole Campus in Norwich.

The annual event is an opportunity for area school board members and school administrators to hear from their local legislators, and for the legislators to hear from them on a variety of topics related to education.

John Klockowski, DCMO BOCES Board of Education member, introduced a number of student speakers from Bainbridge-Guilford Central School, Norwich City School District, Otselic Valley Central School, Unadilla Valley Central School and Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School. Featured legislative guests at Saturday’s breakfast were New York State Assemblyman Joe Angelino, New York State Assemblyman Christopher Tague, and Faith Vavra, Director of Community Affairs for U.S. Representative Josh Riley’s office. They fielded questions on many of the challenges facing rural school districts, including declining populations, complex state aid formulas, difficulties filling positions, electric bus mandates, and other issues.
