OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ basketball team honored its 2026 seniors in a big way as Oxford came away with a 66-48 victory over Deposit-Hancock.
Congratulations to Kayden Renfrow, Richard Hunter, Dom Howe, Bennett Paden, Aiden Mellem, and Nic Dodzweit.
After both teams played a competitive first quarter with Oxford leading 17-14, Oxford increased intensity on both sides of the court. The Blackhawks posted 20 points before the break and held the Eagles to nine points to take a 37-23 lead at halftime.
Both teams battled again in the second half with Oxford still maintaining a solid lead throughout the rest of the league contest.
Gordon Smith excelled for the Blackhawks with a game-high 24 points.
Richard Hunter led the seniors with 23 points, going six-for-eight at the free-throw line and had nine points in the opening frame and from there played consistently throughout the game.
Nic Dodzweit added 11 points throughout all four quarters as Kayden Renfrow had six points in the first half.
Dom Howe had a bucket in the fourth quarter in the win.
Oxford (11-6) hosts Walton-Downsville on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
