WINDSOR —The Windsor Christmas wrestling tournament continued and wrapped up on Tuesday and one local wrestler returned home as a champion. Norwich’s Maverick Beckwith is a three-peat champion at the Windsor Christmas Tournament as he defeated Minisink Valley’s Joseph Uhrig in a 4-1 decision in the 150 weight class finals. Congratulations, Maverick!
Beckwith took down three ranked opponents and put up 60 points over the two days without surrendering an offensive point against him. Norwich finished 26th as a team with 39 points.
Sherburne-Earlville’s Drew Telesky almost won a title of his own, but fell short 4-3 in the 103 weight class against Lowville’s Max Hanselman. Telesky ends up in second as S-E leads the local county teams with a 19th place finish (54.5 points).
Oxford-Greene’s Kade Mustin and Urijah Dibble placed in the tournament after returning for the second day in the consolation rounds. Mustin took fifth as he won his consolation match by a 14-7 decision. He fell by a 2:15 pin before winning by a 6-3 decision in sudden victory overtime.
Dibble finished eighth in the 285 weight class. He fell in both matches, but still placed in his weight class, finishing 3-3 overall.
BGAH’s Silas Greenman took seventh at the Windsor Christmas Tournament as he picked up a pin at 4:02, where he was down 15-6 and fought his way to a win in the consolation round. He then fell by major decision before winning by medical forfeit in the seventh place match. BGAH finished 36th out of 38 teams with 11 points.
