OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks girls’ basketball team hosted the Al Doyle tournament, featuring Hoosic Valley, Moravia, and Walton/Downsville. Oxford faced familiar MAC opponent Walton/Downsville in the first round, where they fell 40-25.

The Lady Blackhawks could not contain Walton/Downsville’s Grace Walley, who posted 24 points, outscoring everyone in the contest.

Oxford was limited throughout the game, which does count as a MAC league contest. The Blackhawks were led by Raine Rovente with six points in the first half. Aubrey Rickard and Emmalee Reiss both finished with four points.

Margaret Rovente had three points in the first quarter as Arielle Ross, Jordan Palmer, Reese Tefft, and Paige Rickard all added two points each in the loss.

Oxford will face Hoosic Valley in the consolation game today around 4:30 p.m.
