ITHACA — It was a great first meet of the winter track season for Norwich senior Kaden Downey on Sunday. Downey shattered three records in the weight throw event, including a new meet record, school record, and Section IV record. The senior had an incredible throw of 66’ 8.75’’ at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational. Congratulations, Kaden.

Downey was the lone competitor for the Purple Tornado winter track team with other local members of the Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville team also competing.

BGAH:

Boys’ Track:

Owen Degan, Sean Fowler, Jackari Garipoli, and Ethan Beardslee earned two points for the Bears with a fifth place finish in the boys’ 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:21.03.

B-G senior Matthew Wombacker was one of two competitors in the boys’ 1500 meter race walk, where he finished on top with a time of 6:58.78.

Harpo Hardt had an impressive day as well as he took second in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.03 seconds, short of the leader’s 7.80 seconds.

Aside from competing in the relay, Sean Fowler ran the 1000 meters, where he took third with a time of 2:51.65 as Ethan Beardslee finished 14th with a time of 3:03.22.

Degan took fifth in the boys’ 3200 meter run with a time of 10:04.81 as Rowan Beasinger came in 19th place in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:17.86.

Garipoli finished 26th in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:38.93. Keegan Milk came in 35th out of 48 male competitors in the 300 meter dash with a time of 43.86 seconds.

Girls’ Track:

A team of Kathleen Charette, Brenna George, Breegan George, and Madisyn Larsen competed in the girls’ 4x200 meter relay, where they finished seventh with a time of 2:02.45.

Charette and Isabel Suda both competed in the 1500 meter race walk, where Charette came in fourth with a time of 10:08.28 and Suda followed in fifth with a time of 10:15.47.

Freshman Macey LaFever finished 16th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 14:04.21. Maddie Ingham came in seventh place in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:27.20 with teammate Madi Beardslee in 30th of 37 competitors with a time of 4:18.10.

Laila Williams finished 14th in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:55.56 with Sophia Suda in 32nd out of 41 female runners (2:12.33).

Larsen and Charette both competed in the 55 meter dash, where Larsen had a top 10 finish in ninth place with a time of 45.95 seconds and Charette finished 23rd with a time of 52.10 seconds.

Boys’ Field:

Senior Isaiah Hampton took third in the long jump with a jump of 20 feet, two inches and tied for fourth in the boys’ high jump with a jump of five feet, six inches. Ethan Beardslee came in 13th in the long jump with a jump of 18-3.25. Harpo Hardt earned a sixth place finish in the boys’ triple jump with a jump of 41 feet, three and 3/4 inches.

Ryan Larsen took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 11 and a quarter inches with Cj Closs in 17th with a throw of 29 feet, 11 inches.

Larsen and Closs also both threw in the boys’ weight throw. Larsen picked up a top 10 finish in the boys’ weight throw as he came in ninth with a throw of 36 feet, two and a half inches with Closs in 14th place with a throw of 25-0.50.

Girls’ Field:

BGAH’s Appalonia Bushaw led the girls in the fielding events with a third place finish in the long jump. She jumped 17 feet and 3/4 inches and earned six team points. Madisyn Larsen finished seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 31 feet, two and a half inches.

Junior Tori Suda earned a sixth place finish in the girls’ weight throw with a throw of 30 feet, three inches as teammate Kelsey Brewster came in 23rd with a throw of 13-4.75.

Marissa Mayo and Tori Suda both threw in the shot put, where Mayo finished eighth with a throw of 30 feet, six inches and Suda in 10th (29-1.25).
