SHERBURNE – The New York State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on State Highway 12B Thursday afternoon between a car and tractor trailer.

The accident happened just south of the Village of Earlville in the Town of Sherburne, a couple hundred yards from the Coye Road intersection.

The Earlville and Sherburne Fire Departments and ambulances responded to the scene at around 2:30 p.m. The road was closed off for several hours as a crime scene with police investigating. A jackknifed tractor trailer and debris could be seen blocking traffic.

At the time of the incident snowy weather was impacting road conditions.

Several inquiries were made on Friday morning, but no information was available by press time.
