OXFORD— After both teams fell in the MAC semifinals, the Bainbridge-Guilford and Oxford-Greene baseball teams faced off in the MAC consolation game on Thursday. B-G improved to 11-4 on the season with a 11-0 shutout victory.
After two scoreless innings, B-G got on the board with three runs in the top of the third as Parker Buttice had an RBI double and then scored on Connor Davy’s RBI single to left field. Davy stole third and home to score the third run.
The Bobcats added on ti their score in the top of the fifth with another three runs as Jaxson McGraw doubled, Buttice walked. Davy came up big again with a RBI double to bring in McGraw. Buttice and Davy scored on a fielder’s choice two-run RBI by Brayden Swartwout.
B-G scored a game-high five runs in the top of the sixth inning. Parker Buttice was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded and Davis Barnard drove in three on a single to left. Swartwout drove in his third run of the game with a two-out single to center.
Oxford-Greene’s Blake Barrows and Cooper Flanagan had the team’s only hits in the loss as Jackson Roth, Cooper Davis, Kiefer Evans, and Aiden Carter each reached on a walk.
Mason Acquisto pitched five and a third innings for B-G, allowing no runs on two hits, two walks, and struck out seven batters. Anthony Cafasso went two-thirds of an inning, walking two batters.
Cooper Davis worked four and a third, allowing five earned runs on four hits, two walks, and struck out eight batters. Uri Tracy went an inning and two-thirds, allowing six earned runs on five hits, two walks, and struck out three batters.
