NORWICH – The Norwich High School Sports Hall of Fame committee held its 13th annual induction ceremony on Saturday night at the Canasawacta Country Club with around 100 or more in attendance to honor the class of 2025. Congratulations to Hannah Runyon, Michael Sutton, Kyle Edwards, Jim Wysor, and the 1965 track and field team.
Families and friends came out in support and heard countless memories of each person/player/team inducted from Hannah Runyon’s moment of adversity, where she continued playing her heart out, even in pain with her love and obsession for the sport of basketball, to Kyle Edwards’ character in knowing from his mother that “education and athletics go hand in hand”, to Michael Sutton being the heartbeat of the Norwich basketball team during his career, to Coach K telling stories of coaching with Jim Wysor, and to Tom Rowe talk about the speed of the 1965 track and field team. It was like you were right there reliving the moments on the court, on the mat, or on the track with the athletes being inducted. A very special night for talented and inspiring individuals who continue to give back to the Norwich community and stay true to the Purple and White. It was astonishing to see seven of the once 42 members of the 1965 Norwich track and field team reuniting at the induction, sharing memories, and gathering together for a photo to honor the night.
The end of the ceremony was everyone’s favorite “Go Purple” traditional chant by the one and only Dave Ring to cap off a wonderful evening.
Congratulations to all the 2025 inductees and their families.
