GREENE – The Oxford Blackhawks and Greene Trojans girls’ soccer teams met for a neighboring matchup on Thursday evening. Oxford, on a hot win-streak and sitting in second in the MAC standings, defeated Greene 3-2. The Blackhawks improve to 7-1-1 on the season behind an unbeaten B-G team.
Oxford’s Kayla Knapp continues her scoring streak as she and Emily Williams both scored goals. The third goal, which was the game-winner, deflected off a Greene player on a bad bounce and went in. Jayne Fleury had one assist. Jenna Denz made five saves in goal.
“Although it was not our best outing, their grit and determination were consistently displayed throughout the game,” Oxford’s Coach Rachel Seiler said.
Hailey Butler scored the two goals for Greene in the loss.
Oxford (7-1-1) continues its four-game road trip to end the regular season at Sidney on October 6 at 6:30 p.m. Greene (6-4) stays home to face Unatego on the same night, starting at 6 p.m.
