BAINBRIDGE – The undefeated Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls’ soccer team hosted Unadilla Valley for a MAC league contest on Tuesday afternoon. Both teams came to play with B-G sporting new pink Breast Cancer Awareness uniforms and socks.
UV took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Emma Fernette off a pass by Madison Anderson. UV secured the 1-0 lead at halftime with B-G nearly tying it up as Kora Johnson was able to block Jayslin Henderson’s attempt.
B-G made a few adjustments after halftime to take control of early possession, but falling short on 50/50 balls. B-G tied it up on a high kick from Tori Suda that made its way into the net, nearly saved by Johnson. Breanna Casey picked up the assist on Suda’s goal.
Casey would go on to score the game-winning goal six minutes after off an assist by Breegan George.
UV also had room to move with the ball on a few breakaways from Myriah Taylor and Sophie Bell. Madison Dix, Noelle Fernandez-Naughton, and Molly Gorrell had some nice touches, but B-G’s Danica Park was tremendous in goal, including a big one versus one save in the second half.
B-G improves to 10-0 on the season and heads to Unatego on October 2 at 5 p.m. UV heads to Afton/Harpursville on October 3 at 4:30 p.m.
