SOUTH OTSELIC — The Otselic Valley Fishing and Heritage Association (OVF&HA) will finish their three-part summer reading series, “Liberty Has a Country”, with an invitation for all to join the free tour of historic sites along the Upper Valley River.
Interested participants must reserve space on the bus and will meet at 8:30 a.m., October 4, in the Otselic Valley Central School parking lot, located at 125 CR-13A in South Otselic.
“Join us for our tour of the Upper Mohawk Valley,” said OVF&HA Chair Michael Foor-Pessin. “We’ll start out at 8:30 a.m. and finish up around 6 p.m., returning to the school parking lot.”
“Although the tour is free of charge, there will be a small fee for the guided tour of General Herkimer's home,” said Foor-Pessin. “The cost is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors and students.”
Water and snacks will be provided and bringing a packed lunch is suggested.
Foor-Pessin said the last two reading series highlighted the roles of the settlers of the Mohawk Valley and the Oneida Indian Nation in the victory of the Americans over the British during the American Revolutionary War.
“We will begin our journey in the heart of the Oneida Indian Nation at the Shako:wi Cultural Center in Oneida,” he said.
