BINGHAMTON – The Norwich Purple Tornado golf team traveled to Ely Park Golf Course to take on Binghamton. It was a bit of an unusual matchup because it was a non-league contest than what they’ve been playing all season, so it was a nice challenge on a course they’d never played on before as well. Norwich fell 176-205, which was their first loss of the 2025 season, but they remain unbeaten in STAC play.
Both Brevin Bennett and Matthew Brunick matched with 36s on the par-34 course. Gavin Burrell followed with a 38 as Charlie Smith came away with a 46. Michael Brunick shot a 49 and Jacob Lobdell with a 51*.
Binghamton’s scores ranged from a low 34 to a high 38 with its entire lineup staying very consistent.
“Our team was quite humbled by the experience, but a good chance for us to see the course we had never played on before, before we play Seton Catholic next Tuesday,” Norwich’s coach Dave Branham said.
Norwich (7-1) heads to Oneonta on Monday at 4 p.m. and then takes on Seton Catholic the next day at the same Ely Park course.
