NORWICH – On September 29, the Norwich YMCA Dolphins Swim Team will be back in the pool to start their six month season. With the 24-25 season ending with 5 swimmers breaking or establishing 7 team records, the crowning of a state champion, and an undefeated 9-10 girls dual meet season, the team looks to improve upon their depth going into the 25-26 season.
“We had 22 swimmers in the pool during our summer swim camp, working on their technique and building confidence in all four competitive strokes. By the end of the two-month camp, we had all of our seasoned swimmers competing in the 100-yard IM which is 1 lap of each stroke butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle in one race. This is incredible to have more than half of our team IM ready across all age groups. Not only that, but the kids were enthusiastic and embraced the challenge!”
There will be ample opportunity to compete this year with 3 invitational meets and 5 dual meets on the schedule. Not to mention District and State Championships. This year also sees the return of the Central New York YMCA Swimming District Championships to the Norwich YMCA pool on Feb 7 & 8, 2026; last hosted more than 10 years ago. Over 500 athletes and their families will convene at the Norwich YMCA for the event.
