NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ tennis team hosted Chenango Forks on Wednesday afternoon, falling in a 7-0 deficit. Coach Nikki Brooks used this match to be able to rotate in a few players into the lineup that had not played in a match yet.
Norwich’s Riley Wolford in the first singles fell in both 6-0 sets to Forks’ Reaghan Hughes. Finley Farrow also dropped two 6-0 sets against Kendra Butr in the second singles.
At third singles, Paulina He fell 6-0, 6-0 to Grace Kumiega. Maria Miranda-Cruz scored one point in both sets, but fell 6-1, 6-1 to Lina Austin.
Samatha Palmer and Mara Lanfair paired up in the first doubles for Norwich. They played against Jillian Staub and Emily Phelps, but fell 6-2 and 6-1.
Alice Boland and Giuliana Oreilly dropped two 6-1 sets to Calliope Brennan and Maya Padmanabhan.
Gwen Breese and Autumn Greco went up against Sophia Zappia and Jordyn Ericksen-Hrehor, but fell in two 6-0 sets.
Norwich (1-3) heads to Chenango Valley on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
