NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 West Main Street, will be hosting an opening reception for “Seeking Serenity: The Art of Beth Landin” at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 13 in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Gallery.
The exhibit features the works of Corning-based artist Beth Landin, who creates art in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, acrylics, oil paint, enameling, ceramics, sandblasted glass art, and more.
"She also has a variety of styles; it ranges from contemporary representational to abstract," said Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller. "This particular show, it’s about stillness and beauty in inner peace, and it’s about cohesive palettes, layered textures, and intentional simplicity. It’s a lot of nature, landscapes, things of that nature."
Landin has exhibited in several galleries, including the Houghton Gallery at the 171 Cedar Arts Center, the Evelyn Peeler Peacock Gallery at the ARTs Council of the Southern Finger Lakes, and the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira.
She has also won the Hallett Award at the Elmira Regional Art Society’s annual Palette Exhibition, served as the executive director at the 171 Cedar Arts Center from 2018 to 2023, and continues to teach watercolor classes there.
