AFTON – On Tuesday, June 10, the Afton Central School District celebrated senior Ryan Wright. Wright is a three-sport student-athlete, where he played soccer, basketball and baseball for the Crimson Knights. He was honored on Tuesday night as he signed a letter of intent to play baseball and study at SUNY Cortland.
Wright finished his baseball career with a total of 432 strikeouts, which puts him eighth all-time in the NYSPHSAA record books. Wright has dozens of honors throughout his career at Afton, including being named the 2024 MAC Co-MVP with a 9-3 record, where he pitched two shutouts, had one no-hitter, and finished with a 1.57 ERA. He also had a .385 batting average that season and even hit a grand slam against Bainbridge-Guilford.
Wright was named a MAC all-star for the 2025 season, where he finished with 126 strikeouts and celebrated his 400th career strikeout against Oxford. Wright also pitched a shutout and worked 6.2 innings in a combined no-hitter. He finished with a 1.44 ERA and had a .375 batting average as the Harpursville/Afton lead-off hitter.
