What’s Happening At The Sidney Library In June…

SIDNEY — The Sidney Memorial Library would like to invite you to stop by the library and check out the mixed media exhibit of Rita Ferrugiari in the Smart Community Room during the month of June.

Computer classes being offered in June are Word II on Wednesday, June 11, from 2 to 3 p.m. This class will build on topics introduced in Word I – insert objects, format paragraphs and create tables.

On Wednesday, June 25, from 2 to 3 p.m., Excel I will be introduced. Learn the basics of Excel and how to create charts to visually present data.

A Books a la Carte book sale by Friends of the Library will be on Saturday, June 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Friends group are also sponsoring their monthly Book Club on Tuesday, June 10 at 11:30 a.m. “The Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhon will be the featured book. Looking ahead, the Friends Book Club will feature “James” by Percival Everett at their July 8 meeting.

Other special programs at the Sidney Memorial Public Library include “In Stitches” quilting group on Monday, June 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. All level of quilters are welcome.

Adult Trivia night will be Wednesday, June 18 at 6 p.m. Win prizes and have fun!

We have programs for kids and teens of all ages including Preschool Storytimes: Tuesday Storytimes at 10 a.m.; Fun With Friends on Wednesday, June 11; Pre-K Library Learners on Tuesday, June 10 and 24 at 10:45 a.m.; Baby Storytime on Wednesday, June 11 at 11 a.m.

For school-age kids we have Gamer’s Guild on Mondays from 3 to 4 p.m., Zoom Lego Club on Tuesdays (via Zoom from 2:30 to 3 p.m.) and in person from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Teen Advisory Group for 7th through 12th graders meet on Wednesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Crafts & Creations for K through 6th grade meets on Thursdays at 3 p.m., Teens & Tweens for 5th – through 12th grades meet on Fridays.

Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering Pre-K “Garden to Table” cooking classes. They will be on Monday, June 16, 23, and 30, July 14, 21 and 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required and students must be able to attend all six classes. Call the library at 607-563-1200 to sign up. These classes will meet in the Smart Community Room.

The Sidney Memorial Public Library and the Masonville Branch Library will be closed on June 19.
