OTSELIC VALLEY - The Otselic Valley Central School District(OVCSD) has announced the top five graduating seniors for 2024.


Rachel Loomis has been named valedictorian of Otselic Valley Jr./Sr. High School’s Class of 2024. She has attended Otselic Valley since kindergarten. She is the daughter of Cheryl Loomis (Richard Rubright) and Michael Loomis. Rachel is involved in many school activities, including Varsity Soccer since the 8th grade where she was elected Captain for the last three years, President of Student Government since Sophomore year, Vice President of the Class of 2024, and Secretary of the National Honor Society. She has also played on the Chenango County Chargers U19 soccer team since Spring 2020. She earned scholar athlete and CCL all-star recognition in 2021, 2022, and 2023 and earned a place on the NYSPHSAA Section III All-Star soccer team this past season. Rachel will graduate high school with 37 college credits. After graduation, Rachel will attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN to major in biology or mathematics. She would like to thank her parents and teachers for their support and encouragement throughout the years.

Braeden is the son of Chad and Jaime Davis of North Pitcher. He is a three sport, First Team All Star athlete whose athletic honors include: Team Captain, 1000 Point Club member, Otselic Valley All Time Leading Scorer in basketball, and the 2024 CCL Basketball Player of the Year. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Treasurer for the Class of 2024, and a recipient of the 2024 Section III Scholar Athlete Award. Braeden plans to attend SUNY Broome to major in Sports Management and continue his basketball career.


Lea Marshall is the daughter of Gordon and Michelle Marshall. She is an Editor of the school yearbook and served as Treasurer for Student Government. Lea plans to attend SUNY Broome for the Health Sciences program.


Alexis Learned is the daughter of Luke and Michelle Learned. She is the President of the Class of 2024 and the Secretary of Student Government. She also serves as the student representative for the Board of Education for the 2023-2024 school year. Additionally, she is a member of the National Honor Society. She has tirelessly advocated student issues throughout her high school career. Alexis plans to attend SUNY Broome with plans to transfer to SUNY Binghamton's School of Management.


Susannah is the daughter of Judy and Jay Lyon. She is a co-captain and scholar athlete for the Varsity Soccer team. She has participated annually in the Carter Rood Futsal Tournament to raise funds for the Carter Rood Scholarship. As a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Government, Susannah is at the center of advocating for students and working with the administration to improve the school community. Susannah has not yet finalized her plans for next year.
