NORWICH - On Saturday, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys' basketball team hosted Seton Catholic, where they fell 72-54. Despite the loss, Norwich still holds a strong 7-5 record.

Norwich saw early on how quick Seton was, which only troubled them. The Purple Tornado stayed consistent throughout the contest, but fell into some deep foul troubles and were overpowered by the Saints' three-point success.

Seton took a 33-22 lead at halftime and never slowed down enough for Norwich to make a comeback. While Norwich was able to force their tough opponent to turn the ball over many times, Seton reacted with pressuring Norwich, which gave them the ball back and ability to put up the long-ball.

At certain points of the game, Norwich was only down by 10 points, but committing fouls only hurt them as Seton was strong at the line. Steven Dowdall led the Purple Tornado with 17 points and went six-for-eight at the line. Five free-throws came in the fourth quarter as he drove to the basket multiple times and was fouled.

Graham Burton used his height to jump over his defender to set himself up with 12 points while Wyatt Thornton had eight points and Colin Olds finished with six points in the loss.

Norwich, who has won five of their last six games, has a week off games as they host Waverly on Monday, January 29 at 7:15 p.m.
