Winter Track: BGA And Oxford/Greene Compete In Quinney Invite

CORTLAND – The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton and the Oxford/Greene indoor track teams competed in the Quinney Invitational over the weekend at SUNY Cortland. BGA also had a few athletes compete in the Utica Challenge.

Both teams had many athletes stand out tremendously at the Quinney meet against other MAC league schools as well as schools from the Delaware and Tri-Valley leagues. Full results can be found at ny.milesplit.com.

BGA:

Girls:

The BGA girls had many athletes strive and achieve new best times. The Bears saw much talent from its young runners. As a team, BGA’s Kaydence Brimmer, Kaylynn Crandall, Macey LaFever, and Chandler Benjamin ran a second place finish in the 4x800 relay with a time of 13:42.40. Benjamin also earned second place in the 1000 meter run with a time of 4:02.06. Olivia Nichols had a second place finish as well in the high jump, setting a new personal record of four feet, eight inches.

Brooklinn Hall achieved two fourth place finishes in her respective events. She came in fourth in the 55 meter dash with a new best time of 8.77 seconds. Teammates Chanel Hsu (eighth) and Shaylynn Fitzgerald (10th) also ran in the same event. Hall finished fourth and earned a new best jump in the triple jump event with a jump of 28-2.75.

Macey LaFever ran a new best time of 13:56.68 in the 3000 meter run, coming in fifth place. Morgan Prisco also came in fifth in the shot put with a new best throw of 22 feet, one inch. Loegan Barnard (eighth) and Emilie Hopkins (ninth) finished strong in the same event.

Aubrey Schinn, Annika Armstrong, and Lucia Hall all competed in the long jump event for the Bears. Schinn led the team with a sixth place finish, achieving a new best jump of 13-0.50 while Armstrong followed in seventh (12-10.75). Hall, a seventh grader, earned her new best jump of 10-6.50 for ninth place.

Boys:

The BGA boys also showed strength throughout the meet, starting with two first place finishes in team events. A team of Ashton Adams, Tim Barnett, Thomas Tallman, and Jaidyn VanEtten ran a top finish in the 4x55 shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 40.86 seconds. Adams and Barnett, along with Jayden Ingham and Tyler Roberts, led the Bears with a first place finish in the 4x200 meter relay.

Easton Porter led BGA with a first place finish individually. He ran the 1000 meter run in 2:59.09. The senior also finished third in the 600 meter run, achieving a new best time of 1:41.15.

Matthew Wombacker finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 7-0. BGA’s Lucas Button achieved a new best throw of 29 feet, two and 3/4 inches in the shot put event, which was good for sixth place.

Aside from competing in the team events, Tyler Roberts ran in the 300 meter dash and participated in the long jump. Roberts ran the 300 meter dash in 44.94 seconds with teammate Jayden Ingham in sixth place with a new best time of 45.38 seconds. Jackari Garipoli finished 10th with his new personal best time of 55.57 seconds.

Roberts also finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 15-7.25. Timothy Barnett earned a new best jump of 14 feet, three and a quarter inches for eighth place. Barnett also finished seventh in the 55 meter dash (7.86 seconds).

Oxford/Greene:
Girls:

The Oxford/Greene girls indoor track team had an impressive meet all-around with its 4x200 relay team finishing third and also with many solid individual performances. A team of Alexis Clark, Rhea Malmquist, London Lamoreaux, and Liesl Ludolph came in third with a time of 2:17.67 before competing in their own events.

Lamoreaux and Malmquist paved the way for OxfordGreene. Lamoreaux finished second in the 55 meter dash with a new best time of 8.58 seconds. She also competed in the 300 meter dash with a time of 49.55 seconds, which she finished third.

Malmquist ran the 1000 meter event in a best 4:44.88 for fourth place while finishing in the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 24-9.75. Shanna Krupp came in second place with a throw of 24 feet, three inches.

Oxford/Greene’s Alexis Clark finished seventh in the 600 meter run with a time of 2:22.58 to round out the top finishes for the girls.

Boys:

The Oxford/Greene boys’ team were solid throughout the meet with a second place finish in the 4x200 relay before showing tremendous speed individually. Nic Richette, Bartalo Bourn, Eddie Golden, and Lazarus Ludolph ran the 4x200 as a team in 1:51.72.

Bourn led the Blackhawks with two first place finishes in both the 55 meter dash and in the pole vault. He ran a new best of 7.37 seconds in the 55 meter dash with Ludolph in fourth place (7.57 seconds). Bourn also vaulted a top 8-6.

Ludolph set a new personal best time of 40.80 in the 300 meter dash for second place. Gordon Smith also earned two top finishes in his respective events. He ran the 1600 meters in 4:54.08 and completed the 3200 meters in 10:20.09. Both times currently hold the school record. Joseph Chernoff set a personal best in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:50.69.

Eddie Golden paced himself to a fourth place finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:21.62. Isaac Utter, Logan White, and Liam Philippone led Oxford/Greene in the fielding events. Utter finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet as White came in 12th (22-4.75). Philippone took seventh in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, eight inches.
