Wrestling: Oxford/Greene Places Sixth In Cazenovia Tournament

CAZENOVIA – The Oxford/Greene wrestling team participated in the Cazenovia wrestling tournament over the weekend. The Blackhawks finished sixth with 74.5 points as Fayetteville-Manlius won the tournament with 137.5 points. Oxford/Greene brought six wrestlers to the tournament, where all but one wrestler placed.

Aiden Marcin and Kade Mustin won their respective weight classes while Isaiah Sexton finished third and Troy Braman and Urijah Dibble finished fourth. Tren Bush also wrestled, but dropped both his matches in the 152 weight class.

Aiden Marcin continues to stand out for the Blackhawks this season in the 145 weight class. Marcin did drop to 138 in the tournament, where he picked up two wins, both pins. Marcin is now 16-2 and is having a great junior year. Mustin also picked up two wins to win the 116 weight class, including a win by technical fall in 2:00 after leading 18-3. He also pinned Fayetteville-Manlius' Sam Reikes in 3:31.

Urijah Dibble lost both decisions in the 215 weight class that only featured four wrestlers, leaving him with a fourth place finish. Troy Braman earned fourth in the 131 weight class with six wrestlers. Braman went 1-3 with his lone win in a close 17-12 decision against Whitesboro's Giovanni Lang. Braman is 15-8 through his sophomore season.

Isaiah Sexton rounded out the tournament by going 2-1 in the 170 weight class. He picked up two wins in quick pins. His quickest pin was within 30 seconds in the finals match against Cazenovia's Evan Rice to finish third. He also pinned Canastota's Seth Roundy in 1:39. He dropped a tough match against Homer's Christopher Slade as he was pinned in 3:30.
