SOUTH OTSELIC – The Otselic Valley Vikings girls’ basketball team hosted McGraw on Tuesday evening in a 36-23 deficit. The Vikings’ offensive woes continue as they haven’t been able to make a big run, especially in times that the game is still in their favor. Both teams were held to single-digit scoring, adding to a heavy defensive atmosphere.

McGraw’s 12 points in the first quarter gave them the advantage from the start and stayed on top throughout the contest. OV had help from leading scorer Miranda Hackett with 11 points as Emma Rooker had eight points, but couldn’t drive to the basket in efforts to make a comeback.

The Vikings (0-5) remain optimistic and hope to only improve as they host Fabius-Pompey on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Scores by quarter:

McG 12 8 7 9—36

OV 7 4 5 7—23
