JOHNSON CITY — Over the weekend, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team played in the Johnson City tip-off tournament.

After falling to Johnson City in the first round 67-56, Norwich took third place with a 64-46 win against Newfield, their first win of the season in three games played.

In Friday's loss, Graham Burton led the Norwich offense with 15 points as Wyatt Thornton knocked down four three's with 13 points. The Tornado's impressive efforts fell due to the Wildcats posting 30 points in the third quarter alone.

The offensive efforts would go in favor of the Purple Tornado in Saturday's game as Steven Dowdall dominated with a whopping 29 points as Burton finished with 12 while Colin Olds and Jacob Morris tied with six points in the win.

Norwich (1-2) heads to Chenango Forks for a STAC league matchup on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
