ONEONTA – Following the boys MAC Championship, the Unadilla Valley Storm and the Sidney Warriors girls soccer team met again for the MAC girls championship. UV won the previous match-up and this game with a score of 4-2. It was UV’s first league championship since 2017.

UV got on the board halfway through the first half where Gracie Gorrell had a breakaway on the right side, passed it to Natalie Crandall, who then found Myriah Taylor. Taylor, with a strong, long kick from the left side, netted the first goal of the game.

The Storm also saw momentum from their top scorer Jaiden Schrag, who found open chances and pushed several shots on goal. Schrag found the net three times for a hat trick.

UV took a 2-0 lead at halftime before Sidney got within one in the opening minutes of the second half. Schrag answered right back with her second goal while her third and the team’s final goal came two minutes later. Sidney scored once more with 19 minutes left in regulation, but the Storm stayed strong.

UV finished off what was a great MAC season, where they went 6-0 in their division and 8-1 overall in the league. The Storm now head into sectionals play on Wednesday, where they’ll host Delhi at 3:30 p.m. UV defeated Delhi 3-2 in mid-September.
