NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team celebrated senior night on Tuesday in a 63-55 victory over Sus Valley. After falling to the Sabers earlier in the season, it felt good to win on Norwich’s home court this time.
Prior to the game, Norwich honored its four seniors. Jerell Stokes, Anthony Ragonese, Damien Kane, and Kaleb Turner were all honored and appreciated for their commitment and dedication to the basketball program. All seniors earned the starting role in the contest.
Norwich held Sus Valley to six points to start the game before the Sabers answered back with 20 points to cut the deficit to 30-20 at halftime. Sus Valley also came to play in the second half and the game was even tied at 50 with 5:30 left in regulation.
But Norwich once again paved the way with efforts made by Steven Dowdall to secure the victory. Dowdall posted 21 points and knocked in three three-pointers while Senior Jerell Stokes finished behind him with 15 points.
Norwich has two remaining road games on their schedule, where they will be at Chenango Forks on Thursday before taking on Vestal on Saturday. Thursday’s game will start at 7:15 p.m.
