VESTAL – Saturday was a big moment for 15 year old Dawson Robinson. Robinson, who is a Sophomore at Norwich High School and a member on the Norwich bowling team, achieved a 300 game for his Vestal USBC (United States Bowling Congress) Winter team at Midway Lanes.

Robinson joined the team two years ago in hopes of some assistance and additional experience since the loss of an alley in downtown Norwich. He has been able to achieve such success from his time with the team and from help of Vestal’s coach Ed.

“Coach Ed has helped me a lot and has worked with me on form all the way to release,” Robinson said. “This has helped me do better and reflect over to Norwich as the Captain of the bowling team, where I have increased my average and won many awards.”

From his time with the Vestal team, he was able to accomplish his first 300 game, which has been a challenge to achieve at the high school level. But in the heat of the moment, he will cherish this moment forever as he completed every bowler’s goal.

“The feeling of nervousness and shaking, my heart pounding, throwing the last ball,” he said about striking out in the 10th frame to achieve the 300. A game where he was unstoppable with 12 strikes.

“The 300 comes when you least expect it, such a huge goal of mine was finally completed after 10 years of working and dedication to the sport,” he continued. “This was always a dream of mine since I started bowling when I was five at Norwich Plaza Lanes.”

Robinson also thanks his supportive bowling friends and the community for always being there and his parents for supplying him with the proper equipment to help him be successful. He also appreciates his Rubicon UC3 ball that helped him bowl 16 strikes in a row going into the second game.

Robinson is a four-year starter on the Norwich Varsity Bowling team, where he earned an All-Conference for the STAC East division last season and was voted the Most Valuable Player on the team.
