Norwich Police: Man Charged With Sex Crime After Contacting Local Youth

NORWICH — The Norwich Police Department concluded an investigation into child solicitation and child pornography on Sunday, January 23.

Holden M. Potter, 26, of Norwich, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

“The investigation uncovered that Mr. Potter was soliciting and receiving sexual performance material from a thirteen year old individual,” reports Detective Sergeant Reuben Roach. During the course of the investigation, the Norwich Police Department executed a search warrant on Mr. Holden’s residence and seized property.

“This was a case where we were able to stop a predator from injuring one of our children, and I am hopeful that this sends a message other offenders that we will not tolerate this behavior,” said Roach.

The Norwich City Police Department was assisted by the Norwich City School District, and the Chenango County Child Advocacy Center. Additionally, the Norwich City Police Department worked closely with the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office on this case.

Holden was arraigned at Norwich City Court and held on $7500.00 bail awaiting further court hearings. Further charges are expected said police.
