OXFORD - Oxford ended a decade-long winless drought against Sidney on Friday.

The Blackhawks swept both doubles matches, and eighth-grader Abby Denz earned the all-important final team point at third singles in a 3-2 victory over the Warriors.

Denz needed three sets to defeat Sidney's Emily Morris rallying for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 victory.

At first doubles, Natalie and Madalyn Barrows won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. At second doubles, the Blackhawks' Jill Finch and Jocie Finch claimed a victory by forfeit.

BASEBALL

Unatego rallies in seventh to beat UV/G-MU

WELLS BRIDGE - Unatego scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past Unadilla Valley-G-MU on Saturday.

With the game tied at 10, Braedon Johnson singled in the Spartans' Jakob Ryan with the winning run.

UV/G-MU  fell behind 3-0 after three innings before mounting significant offense over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take a 9-4 lead.

Devon Fairchild finished with two hits and three RBI to lead UV/G-MU, Drew Emrich went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Colin Grant and Trent Marinelli also had two hits apiece.

CHENANGO BRIDGE - Chenango Valley garnered one team point by forfeit, and grabbed wins in five of the six contested matches in a victory over Norwich on Thursday.

Norwich avoided a shutout loss winning at second singles.

The Tornado's Emma Brooks grabbed a 9-6 victory over CV's Celia Trumino.

DELHI - Delhi's powerhouse lineup swept all five points from B-G to remain unbeaten against Midstate Athletic Conference opponents.

The Bulldogs took all five matches in straight sets, and did not surrender more than three games in any one set.

SIDNEY - Sidney won both three-set matches, and that provided the key difference in a victory over Bainbridge-Guilford's tennis team on Thursday.

Emily Morris edged B-G's Brock Porter at third singles 7-5, 5-7, 10-8, while Sidney's first doubles - Dhalia VanKingsley-Cameron Harris - edged Marek Rajner and Giovanni Johnson, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

B-G's third doubles team of Sienko Cooper and Kevin Lang gained B-G's lone point by forfeit.

NORTH NORWICH -  At Canasawacta Country Club, Max Marson led the way for Tornado on senior appreciation day shooting a 43 in Norwich's victory over Chenango Valley.

Jacob Morris followed Marson carding a 47 as Norwich's record improved to 2-3 on the season.

Julien Smith added a 52 for Norwich.

GREENE  - Greene earned its fourth win of the season on Friday beating Delhi at Genegantslet Golf Course.

Scout McCumiskey picked up overall match medalist honors shooting a 43 for the Trojans (4-1).

Clayton Leonard backed up McCumiskey's score shooting a 43.

Brandon Kneale fired a match-best 45 for the Storm , while Drew Emrich and Devin Hartwell turned in matching 53s for UV.
