Earlville Opera House presenting online for patrons and support

Dear Friends,

Like other theaters, coffeehouses and galleries, the Earlville Opera House has suspended all public operations during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the virus on the livelihoods of performers and visual artists and the venues that support them, including the Earlville Opera House, is profound and devastating.

Each spring we seek your generous support for the Opera House’s efforts to enrich Central New York with music, art, and educational programming for young and old alike. And each year, so many of you respond with generous gifts that sustain our operations. However, this is no typical spring and this is not the typical request for support. The Opera House Board of Directors feels a sense of responsibility not just to our dedicated employees and to the maintenance of the historic facility, but also to the community of visual artists and the performing artists that grace its stage.

Story Continues Below Adverts

For this year’s appeal we have created a compilation of video performances by a cadre of talented musicians from Louisiana to Brooklyn, and it’s right on our website at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com for your viewing! The EOH Board of Directors recognizes the special relationship between performance venues like the Opera House and touring musicians who rely on live performances for their livelihood, so for every contribution we receive as part of this appeal, whether membership renewal or generous gift, we will pass on 25 percent of the funds raised to the performers in the video compilation. Still, we want everyone to have access to the video compilation regardless of your ability to give. We believe the arts can bring us together and allay our anxieties, especially in trying times like these. We bet you agree!

So, on some evening in the coming days, when you and your family are looking for something fun to do, we encourage you to view our video and enjoy a “concert” by some of our favorite performers, and know that we are all in this together. Your love and support will keep the Opera House running and preparing for the time in the near future when it will reopen its doors for an evening of great music or the opening of a new art exhibit.

Contributions of any size are appreciated, and we encourage you to consider membership at one of our levels. Did you know that one of the provisions of the recently enacted CARES Act enables taxpayers to deduct up to a $300 charitable donation without having to file an itemized return? For those taxpayers who do itemize, it allows a deduction of an amount up to 100% of Adjusted Gross Income.  This is a win-win!  Use the "Support the Arts" button near the on-line video, or mail a check to PO Box 111, Earlville, NY 13332. The EOH is a 501© tax-exempt organization, Federal EIN#: 16-0988051.

The Earlville Opera House is located at 18 East Main Street in the quaint Village of Earlville, NY 13332 and is handicap accessible.

EOH events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and through the generosity of EOH members, patrons and donors.

-Yours for great art and music, The Earlville Opera House
